The Boatside Inn is often praised for its spacious rooms, some describing them as huge and beautifully furnished, making it a great base for exploring Northumberland, especially with its proximity to the A69 and Hexham. Guests rave about the delicious meals, including the fish pie and lamb tagine, and the Allendale Golden Plover Ale. While the location may be a bit remote for some, particularly regarding Hadrian's Wall access requiring a taxi, the inn is generally considered a peaceful and comfortable stay.

Peaceful Stay Near Scenic Northumberland

huge roomscenic locationhandy manualroom service
The room was huge and very comfortable. It had a scenic location. The inn sits near the A69 and is a short drive to an interesting town. The location served as a great base for exploring the area. I found a handy manual that included recommendations for local food and visits that were farther away.
The room was not serviced daily though I knew this. I was not entirely sure why the room did not have service.
Rooms
9/10
The room included a king bed and a sitting area with two armchairs. The room was very quiet. There was a large window overlooking the garden. It let in plenty of light. The bathroom included a rainfall shower and a separate bathtub.
Facilities
8/10
The hotel provides free parking in a lot adjacent to the building, though it was uncovered. The bar area offers a selection of local ales and spirits, and a few wines. There is an outdoor seating area with views of the surrounding countryside.
Location
9/10
The hotel is a ten minute drive from the town center! though the road can be narrow. The immediate area offers numerous walking paths and cycling routes. The hotel is set back from the main road, so noise was minimal.
